We have a 20-year-old chevy mulibu after being told that we need to replace the time belt cover gasket which means removing the entire front of the engine just to replace a 20-dollar part, total cost estimate $1,200 just to start, the car is only worth about $2,500 at the most…i think it’s time to sell it to the scrap yard, to bad it only has 135k miles and still runs well but leaks a ton of water, can’t drive it.

Changed head gaskets anyway, a head bolt came up with odd rusty pitting on its starting thread- showing the possibility of a bad spot in the block.
