If you're in the us, as i am, its value is as a low-cost software defined radio receiver (but not a transmitter).

There are many rtlsdr applications that run under microsoft windows and various linux distributions.

I currently have this item attached to a raspberry pi 3, where it is adequately decoding various signals with just the antenna with which it came.

I noticed that one of the reviewers mentioned a 60 ppm error.

The item i received had a 70 ppm error, so take the time to determine the error for your device and crank the correction into whatever applications you run.
