I opted to use a 12volt adapter for camera and monitor so this system is always connected.

However, i would like to mention that the pictures of the camera next to the monitor are not in the least to scale.

While it does plainly state in the description that the monitor is just 4+ inches, your eye when looking at the picture thinks it's about twice that size.

I bought this to install in my rv so i could see anyone walking or pulling up in front, from the inside (no window out that way).
