Pros & Cons
Pros
New insinkerator 1hp is much quieter than the previous model. Quieter and way more powerful. Not too loud but very powerful. Just the right amount of horsepower for a family home. For normal household use and compact size, this is great.
The unit is powerful with stainless steel construction. It seems like a sturdy workhorse.
Easy to install. All the parts fit nicely. Use the provided wrench to tighten it up.
Cons
Metallic grinding sound began intermittently. Lasted ok for 2. This is the noisiest garbage disposal i have ever owned. It is about 90db from 2 feet away while operating.

The way the newer units eliminate much of the noise is to use a rubber splash guard designed to create a 34water dam34 to isolate the grinding chamber
