Solved the problem by attaching a metal link between the filter and the line going to the washer.

You have to careful when instaling not to cross thread the plastic piece that attaches to the water supply.

We have whole house filters but due to the age of the home, there is still some sediment in the lines occasionally , our washer screen would still get clogged up and the hot water would flow so slow it was painful.
