    Unlike the cyoa from my youth, a wrong turn doesn't necessarily mean death but just a different way to go or a different story arc.

    The genre pretty much died out in the 90's, i've only come across a couple in the last ten years or that are decent in paperback for adults such as million little mistakes by heather mcelhatton, but i hadn't found a decent author who could make it work in the new medium of kindle books before i came across infected.
