It will not cover up the color or a pattern of a brightly covered comforter.It is a pretty cover with a pretty design.A duvet covers a comforter, many times down comforters that provide the perfect amount of warmth, though we now prefer down-alternative comforters.  Read Less

Happy as a clam! Ha.. in a brand new shell..!! I was revamping the look/feel of our guest room/office and noticed.. after taking the space in- it was the bedding itself that looked like it was in need of a refresh! Wanting something neutral and not too busy or, juvenile.. But, still wanting the appearance of effort put forth in creating an inviting space for guests to use… this worked!!I ordered HYPREST Bohemian queen duvet cover in Gray/white and the print is subtle and can be played up or, down depending on preference! One could use printed throw pillows or, printed sheets to create a louder/bigger statement piece… even an art statement or tapestry on the wall?! Or, use with solid colors/rich fabrics and just let the simplicity of the print be enough- personally, I chose the latter.. and it works!The comforter itself has more of a silky sheen then I was expecting.. Which does take away some of the soft creature comfort’s found/expected with bedding. Having said that, it is still plenty nice and comfortable- and perfect for the need I have; too look sharp and keep guests sleeping in a clean and welcoming environment. By no means is this stiff/scratchy material- it’s just the softness we all come to know/welcome/love with bedding is a bit less then, others options such as Jersey, minky or, plush materials. (however, in the summer this will be fantastic as it keeps temperature cooler!)As for size, this fit my down Insert with actually a bit (2”) of room to spare. My insert does not have the corner tie tabs- so, I didn’t need to hassle to make those work.. tbh, I feel if you place Comforter evenly when inserting and most of all, smooth the contents to an even distribution to begin- this is not something that moves around a lot. I know a lot of people complain about inserts staying put- and corner ties should eliminate this problem.But, I’ll also share my secret life hack w/ you.. Shh!!Hack: purchase insert if possible a size larger than duvet cover. That way it gives the look and feel of an over stuffed down comforter- just like you see in the photographs!! I.e. purchase queen insert and place inside full cover. Purchase XL twin insert and placed inside twin cover.. you get idea- and I realize this is only available from different sellers In certain styles sizes (and doesn’t work if they clump full/queen into one size.) But, if you do this whenever you can, trust me- give it a whirl… You will not be disappointed! Best of all comforter insert will stay in place much better!!I did pre-wash comforter and dry on low heat with no issues at all. I figured out “the sheen” on the top layer is actually stain/water resistant treatment- which would make this quite a bonus in a childs or, dorm room… Places that tend to see a lot of use flash abuse! The opening end to insert the duvet washed up exceptionally well! (In past I’ve had duvets after washing they begin to roll up and it can be maddening!) This came out of dryer with a nice crisp edge and the fact this has the opening the entire length of the duvet is so helpful. (If you have ever had a duvet covers that only allows a 2ft opening vs. run the entire length, it is beyond difficult to place/tie insert without using a few curse words or two! So, I was completely happy this does allow ample ease/convenience when inserting comforter inside!!The color is straight forward gray- not charcoal and not silver!! Looks fabulous paired with any color. I went with a lime green lap blanket, along with brighter orange and a turquoise blue throw pillow yes! This is what I used to give some sassy, wow factor! Let me tell you, the use of an orange flower shaped throw pillow, a soft corduroy in solid turquoise oblong pillow, along with a satiny lime lap blanket folded at the bottom- took this bedding over the top!!! (My plan to refresh window treatment, wall decor, bedside lamp wasnt needed once.. I kick the bedding up-)Trust me, swapping duvet can be easy/economical and one of best ways to make an entire space feel new and inviting!!! HYPREST has many options and styles to choose from.. At the price point offered, it is definitely worth purchasing and would do so again, without any hesitation..  Read Less
