It's fixable with a hole-puncher, a piece of plastic (soda bottle), and a torx t5 screwdriver. It's a pain to do when it happens, but it's doable at least.

Htc vive hardware is cheaply made and doesn't last. Why don’t they sell this simple clip for $5-$10 on their website at minimum? Very expensive - junk. Htc has been contacted for support.
