I enjoyed the almost runyonesque account of the adventures of a young man in the early decades of the last century first wandering the american west as a cowboy and then becoming a flying ace in wwi

This was truly a unique book and just a wonderful story about a young man growing up in the western us learning to break horses and eventually moving to canada where he joined the army just as wwi broke out in europe
