You have to unlatch each spine so it can bent outwards to store and then latch them back to have it open the right way

I ordered the grey parasol but its really a champagne color with a grey lace overlay

Please note the parasol will not fit into the sleeve it comes with unless the ribs are bent upward into the position as how it shipped
