To prevent the clips from sliding with the weight of the clothes i looped the clothes line once around the clip loop and that did the trick

When i check the fluids in my car or do minor repairs i attach a plastic shopping bag to those clips to use as a trash bag for hand wipes soiled paper towels discarded part and other trash
