These are ok for dampening sound. I think saying they're noise cancelling is a bit of a stretch honestly. I like these because they are very comfortable...they are not hard like some ear plugs and are not made of foam either. I think including the bag is a nice touch, but a bit redundant since they come with a hard plastic case. You can still hear noises with these in your ears, so clearly it is not cancelling, but that's part of the reason I like these. I wouldn't take these to the shooting range for this reason, but would be more inclined to use these when I play drums.  Read Less
