Pros

This printer kit is very good for an acrylic frame, and only has a couple design flaws i would change. The build volume is large and the price was right. If you like a puzzle, and the satisfaction of the build, this is for you.

The support on fb is excellent and responds to inquiries quickly and personally. The latest firmware is sharp and is a breeze to install. All the rp needs is ethernet and usb, so a model b version works fine.

Bed leveling is key to having any print turn out good. This makes bed leveling a little trickier but not impossible. Z axis leveling can be a little tricky.

The instructions are a bit vague, but if you have a little aptitude and patience, you'll get there. The included cd has instructions in a pdf file which were helpful. The only video that you really need to watch is on how to install the belt since the... Read More

The hic policy on this issue is to * it up. Amazon is in the process of providing a refund. I've gone ahead and contacted hictop directly via email and waiting on response to my issues; following are the issues & status of resolution.

Thats engineering 101 nothing you make print cut or build will ever be exact

It started out with the extruder gear grinding through the filament i modified the spring and stopped that but now the flow is intermittent

I sent 8 email requests and got only one reply

Packaging/appearance

The kit is well packaged and had all the pieces

The printer came with excellent packaging well organized and protected from harm during shipment

Packaging this printer came flat packed in 3 foam trays

The firmware did not come flashed for my control board or rather it seems the wrong firmware was flashed

Competitiveness

With a little bit of patience and a great amount of attention to detail you can make this machine rival fully assembled 1k plus machines

I suspect that other units will produce far superior prints but this is an entry level printer aimed at budget minded hobbyists... Read More
