Pros & Cons

The AI used to provide these results are constantly improving. These results might change.

Pros

The interior ridges are the secret to easier grinding. I use it to grind sesame seeds for goma-ae dressing. Much better tool than a mortar and pestle set for such tasks.

Wishing it were heavier, but it truly does the job and is attractive as well. Does the job, minimal storage space required and beautiful too.

The ridges in the bowl are excellent for whipping up a nice lather with shaving soaps. The extra surface area from the ridges make this unexpectedly amazing for lathering soap. If you use a bowl to lather, this is the best one.

Cons

The brush that comes with the set is mostly a gimmick. There aren't any ridges on the outside to help grip the bowl and the glaze isn't the same. The pestle is wooden instead of ceramic, which i was disappointed in.

Product is so light it does not have the steadiness to grind anything. Grinding ribs are shallow and dull, not the deep, sharp vee of a working suribachi.

Quality

High quality and easy to use and clean

Add salt pepper and drizzle in olive oil and continue to work the mixture with the pestle

The pestle surikogi is about the expected quality for the rest of the item

Competitiveness

It is really a great tool and easier to clean up than a food processer

I was torn between using this for food or oldschool shaving

I tried to find a replacement without using amazon but retailers were asking twice the price on line
