Learned something very important after driving myself crazy troubleshooting intermittent signals. Sometimes it would split just fine, sometimes I got no signal. Blamed the device, cursed the device in reality. However, as others have written, the device does not come with a power adapter, just a USB cord. Seems simple enough right? Supply your own power adapter. It says right on the device, use a 5v adapter, like the standard adapters for cell phones. However, as many may be aware, they are not all the same - they all have different amperage outputs. I carelessly used one that outputs 850milliamps. I finally tried a different adapter, one that puts out 2 amps (2000 milliamps) and lo and behold no problems. Moral of the story - read the directions! It does say in the directions to use a 1amp power adapter. Would be nice if that were printed on the device itself, just like the 5V is, but I guess you can't fault them for users not reading directions. You can fault them for directions not being particularly clear, which is the case here. Finally, note well that even though 1Amp is the specified power, we have a 50ft HDMI cable, and I found with 1A it will still a little intermittent. With 2Amp it works great!  Read Less
