My pump started leaking and after reading some feedback it seemed that the cause was the ceramic disc had gone bad and was allowing water to get past it and get into the motor.

Sure enough after i separated the motor from the pump, any easy task, i replaced the disc components and the leaking has now stopped.

Obviously, first shut off your pump and the power feeding it, at the circuit breaker.

Don't just count on the switch, though that should also be off just to double break the connection.

They will usually break free, but i've had them strip out, and if that happens, you will need a whole new pump, not just a repair.

That's why i said pull it apart first so that you make sure that this is a parts replacement, not a pump replacement.

After the housing is broken loose, you will have a loose diffuser with a gasket on it, either inside the pump housing or covering the impeller.
