Citrus solvent is made from byproducts of juice making (peels from citrus fruits). But safe to breathe, and can also be safely used for touch ups/maintenance in the home. It's not a bad smell—very citrusy—just strong! There is a citrus smell when firs... Read More
Finished my birch butcher block bar table. Used this for my butcher lock countertop. Which is very useful in a kitchen counter.
It darkens the wood and brings out beautiful wood tones. It's easier to work with, soaks into the wood more quickly and evenly. Darker side in the pic is where the oil was applied.
Easy to apply, smells great, and really makes the grain pop. Thick to apply but creates a good durable finish. Easy to use and cleanup.
Waterproof for sure.
Cons
Tung oil is more like 80/20 solvent to ting oil. After 3 weeks the floor is still tacky. The haze and the streaks are the result of a film of too much oil.
The citrus solvent smell is over powering and will not go away! Warning for ventilation and combustible. The smell is terrible and has now made it's way through my entire house. The fume is very strong and unpleasant.
