Pros

Ignore the 'bryson' review. This book is not riddled with mistakes. But for the initial plunge, this book is definitely the best of the lot. The only book i have used for the past six months zo kearn the guitar!

Paul henry's book is an all-round technique builder. The author moves along at an easy, but progressive pace. The book has a way of allowing you to move at your own pace without letting you feel bored.

Cons

It needs a complete re-editing before it is in the state it should be. Without tab notation its close to impossible to figure out how to play it.

The numbers printed next to notes represent which finger on the left hand is used to produce the note and in different situations the music will be easier to play if you use a different finger

It also was explained clearly in the book when playing the notes are first introduced

I am writing this so that anyone looking for an excellently written beginning method does not miss out because of an illconceived premise

The problem with a lot of beginner books is that the music in the exercises is horribly boring
