I got this for its 30x zoom lens which is autofocus so i could monitor my mailbox from about 40 ft away and get a good picture of anyone opening the mailbox

I manually set the zoom to almost maximum by pressing buttons on back of the camera

To connect to your computer youll need a composite video adapter either an addin card or one of the usb units

It does seem to use more computer power than an ip camera but that may be because im temporarily remotely connecting it via a usb adapter through a 4port gigabit usb adapter
