Now that it's all done and we've had a few dozen good rainstorms to test out the waterproofing, i can say i'm pleased with the result.
It does take some time to apply the product.

It was tedious, but that was not because the tape is difficult to use - it was a cinch.

If the tape didn't adhere well at times, it was only on poorly cleaned parts of the floor joists.

On the other hand, because i ran a little short, i picked up a few feet of a blue backed membrane product, which didn't adhere at all well, plus shows blue through the deck spacing.

Butyl-based tapes - there are some conditions where a butyl-based adhesive is preferable to asphalt.

That way when water seeps through the cracks of the top of the deck it won’t rot the joists, it will pool then gravity will run it down the sides of the joist.

I apply it starting at the bottom of the header board, wrap it around to the wide face of the board and then i apply a second strip from the top wrapping down to the wide face of the board over top of the bottom piece.

I took 1 star of because it did not stick to the sides of the joist - peeled up.
