    As many others have experienced, the hatch door on the family 2006 toyota sienna melted and deteriorated until it was no longer usable.

    My 2008 sienna has a powered rear hatch so i had to disconnect the link between the lifting arm and the door frame in order to remove one of the plastic trim parts.

    That extra step was not included in the you tube videos i found since those were apparently shot on a non-powered door.

    It was not a difficult task to disconnect the link; a small clip just needed to be snapped off.
