Pros
This solves the problem of using outmoded but still valuable gear and interface. Works fine 9600 bps to 115200 bps.
I echo other's statements that the signal lights are helpful to get things working. The indicator leds are a nice addition as well. The status lights are handy for troubleshooting serial connections.
Used for low level debug for electronics r&d. If you are a maker or work with old industrial connections this is a must to have tool in your toolset. Uses a touchscreen to set the parameters for radiographs.
I'm pleased to say that it works perfectly. Works great with no issues. Worked fine and continues to do so.
Cons
Leds are less than helpful for figuring out how to hook up and get a serial port working. A real traditional breakout box is dual color.

The com port that the monitor was attached to stopped functioning so by using this cable serial adapter we were able to transfer the monitor connection and function to a usb port
