Pros & Cons
Pros
Will recommend this perches very happy with it. Digs the perfect depth. This narrower version has some challenges with rocks. But it digs like a champ.
Cons
The dirt has to be freshly tilde. Even a corded hammer drill struggles with this. Better off just using a hand trowel after a soaking rain.
Poor quality metal and welding. Auger shaft is not sufficient quality. Had to take it to the shop and straighten it out.
Highlights
Quality
The augers are very sturdy and well made
Very sturdy and strong tool perfect for digging dozens of holes in the hard earth to plant bulbs
I was hoping to get through just one planting before it broke and now it appears that this auger will hold up for as long as its not abused
The dirt extracts as you withdraw the auger while still turning
Price
Just a terrific product at a modest cost
We had also bought a 70 dibbling tool
Frankly for the low price didnt expect the auger to be made with such good metal

I havent tried to dig any holes in compacted dirt yet so i cant comment on how well it will hold up to the heavier work that it is designed for

Some of the reviews on similar tools state that they break easily because the auger portion is only welded to the shaft in 2 places the top and the bottom the one i received is welded in 3 places top bottom and halfway up the shaft so it should hold together better than some but obviously not as good as one that has the auger welded full length to the shaft

You wont get tired using a heavy drill and bulb bit

I don’t know if it’s the blades on this auger or the power level of my drill but i can only get in about 6 inches to the ground

I feel like if the blades were a little sharper it would go in

It could be the ground that’s just too hard or my drill is not powerful enough but if it went down 6 inches i would hope it would go further

Frankly for the low price didnt expect the auger to be made with such good metal

However after planting 75 bulbs in very hard ground that also contained a lot of roots the blades werent bent in the least and neither was the shaft
