Most of the time the water didnt go into the pipe i think if you catch it at the right angle some water may trickle in
That is a problem if it is salty seawater because the pipe is right above your forehead and subsequently trickles down to your eyes
I am not sure the pipe is as large as a snorkel so for those who need more air this might be a problem
