Quality
This is a quality scanner so far as i can see.
I just re-purchased a new one and the quality is even more amazing especially with the wireless scanning feature.
Nice features but a bit expensive for the occasional user.
Packaging/appearance
Then folds up to compact size to put out of the way.
Competitiveness
I've been using the fujitsu scansnap for years and these scanners are a work horse!
I have used both the ix1500 and ix500 scanners at work so i purchased one for home.
So much faster than our previous model
There is other brand names are cheaper, but this one woth th,extra maney you paid

Also if you rename a file without moving it to your desktop for example it will not open again within the software
