I dont know if this is a good thing or a bad thing but there are suction cups on the bottom but they are detachable

The waterfall bought in a box store nothing fancy originally had some type of diffuser at the top to control the fountain spraying out which kept the water under control and flowing downward rather than straight up

Directions do say that you must bring the pump inside once the outside temperature starts freezing
