    Also you dont have to plug the screen in to power it if you plugin the usb cable from the screen to the raspberry pi which communicates the touch signals thatll act as the power source

    One note i actually plugged the screen in separately to a power source at first and another usb cable to the pi the screen has two microusb ports

    Not sure if this was the problem or it just eventually found the driver but just use one usb cable from the screen to the pi
