I did use it on a plate that had a metallic finish on the back and it eventually loosened and took the metallic with it so be sure you know the surface

Growing up in france a lot of paintings had something similar to flatirons disc except it was rectangular and not covered with plastic

But beware if you stick it in the wrong place you will be doomed because you cannot remove the disc once stuck in place

Im not criticizing wirespring hangers but they react to vibrations slip around and then need adjustment
