Pros & Cons

Pros

The birdbath de-icer really works. The birds and squirrels enjoy having water. My birds love flapping around in the warm water.

The cord seems a bit short, but i guess it keeps it off the ground where it would get wet and trigger the gfci outlet. Solved this problem with a plastic cover for the plug.

I'm so thankful for this heater, that keeps going and going, and going! This bird bath heater is a definite quality product.

Cons

The heater heats up, but the thermostat does not control the unit to turn it on or off. Who designs a heater with a steel edge to it? Not happy with 3 year warranty does not cover rust.

They are other places you can order this item for cheaper and they will give you a much better costumer service. Do not buy. Returning this useless item.

The cord is impractically short. Very difficult to keep in my birdbath without getting the connector wet.

Quality

This bird bath heater is a definite quality product

Well made bird bath heater we bought two

Keeps water unfrozen even at single digit temps

Our old heater one of those plastic looking ones crapped out 5 days after the return period

Price

Product was competitively priced and works well

But just one time watching a turtle dove enjoy it like a sauna on a 15°f day pretty much made the extra cost worth it

This was expensive and i was hoping to be able to use for a few years

Some of us try to help these little creatures wish prices would reflect an interest in nature over profit

Shipping

Super speedy delivery also very much appreciated

Took a while to get here but it did a great job keeping my birdbath ice free during the coldest spell weve had in years

I’m in oklahoma and it arrived before the snow and freezing temps in march

Competitiveness

We tried 2 other brands of bird heaters and they just didnt work

I had tried one other lower watt bird bath heater

This device replaced a similar heater identical model which lasted 7 years before it stopped working

I had tried one other lower watt bird bath heater

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Below zero temps the water was freezing

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

As can be seen in my photos i have an unusual bird bath created by a local artist out of an old cam shaft and a disc blade

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Because of the way its welded the end of the shaft protrudes up from the disc in such a way that it prevents accommodation of a normal bath heater

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Being an inverted disc blade its also somewhat shallow

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

As noted below ive measured the water at 75°f so its probably warmer than it needs to be

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Temperatures at night have been in the single digits
