The charge lasts an incredibly long time the clamp wont mess up your pages or cover and really doesnt add much extra weight to the book

I am using the clip to attach the light to a shelf above my head and have not tried attaching it to a book other then to test the output of the light settings

Great design the base is sturdy so you can put it almost anywhere without using the clip
