Though I had mixed feelings on his first book (overall, I appreciated the key points and message just not the delivery), I found this book to be better executed (less crass and smug, but his unique and in your face voice was still there). It was a deeper examination into humanity. Using history, philosophy, psychology, and his own viewpoint, Manson lays out a pretty hefty topic but with a punchy voice. I found this book went far deeper, and really had me thinking--agreeing, disagreeing, feeling, wondering--more so than the first. It is definitely far less lighthearted than the first. It kind of ends on a depressing note, but hey, who knows. He doesn't know how our world and humanity will evolve; he is speculating. But he gave some great examples into better understanding ourselves individually, as a community/socially, and as a world. I listened on audio (the author narrated it himself). Putting aside some of the crude examples and snugness in the first book (Subtle Art of not giving a f-), I would still recommend both books.  Read Less
