    When in a door jam it secures tightly but please note its not an actual stair way gate

    In my house it works for my needs perfectly because it secures well enough on my banister to stay up right and keep peopledogs out but it wouldnt support weight if someone fell into it so if you need a stair gate for a toddler please do look into stair gates

    Also i you are putting this at the base of the stairs make sure there is no trim at the bottom the point of contact at the bottom and top of that gate have to be on the same plane

    If the bottom contact point touches trim it will be a narrower opening than at the top
