Steve olson does a wonderful job of capturing the land and people of mount helens the nature the big business of logging spectacular nature as they unwittingly speed towards a coming disaster of apocalyptic proportions

The author did a great job adding facts and background stories of the people described in the book either because they owned the land or died during the eruption
