I believe it would have worked fine but my kindle was body was slightly bent from fall that cracked the screen for it to work properly.

The biggest problem occurs when you remove the top cover.

My husband did the work and even though the original screen was badly shattered with small pieces of glass falling everywhere, he was able to take that broken screen off and put this new screen on.

As described, we broke the digitizer tab when installing (our own error) and it is useless without that, so be careful if attempting yourself.
