I like the fact they didnt go for an off the shelf as close as elvis lookalikey as that i think would have taken away from what is a exceedingly good watch and not the chief focal point of the film

The film itself is a thought provoking insight into what was in most part stands as an unrecorded meeting in the oval office and a fascinating period in western history and culture

As they said the picture of nixon and elvis was the most requested picture from the national archives to this date

What i expected is not what i got there isnt an elvis number in the whole film and to be honest michael shannon isnt a convincing elivis which is a bit irritating but kevin spacey is a fantastic nixon and the two make a great combination of portraying an event without trying to replicate it

But that combination still doesnt sound entertaining except that spaceys mildly comedic bumbling and shannons contempt for oval office protocol had me chuckling the whole way through the ludicrous encounter

Its not the characters that matter here its the concept

Its straight and to the point with every scene progressing it in some form whether it related to the plot or to developing its characters
