Pros & Cons

Pros

Bulbs are frosted, so the color mixes within the diode. Blue is shifted toward the green a bit so the blue isn't as 'blue' as it could be. Also a wider viewing angle. It lets us know our garage door is open with the light in our tv room.

K ohm resistor to drive the red led, and a 61. Kohm resistor for the green one. Single 3mm 1. Ohm resistor plugged straight to my 5v source (receiver) comes with resistors which is a nice touch. Voltage rail of many low voltage (3. V supplied circuits...  Read More

These are great for this hobby. Love 'em. Props for the resealable anti static protection bags.

Cons

They have a very low lifespan, somewhere around 1500 to 2000 hours. At that point they dim to the point of barely being visible. The phosphor they use for white degrades quickly.

Leds run on current, but the circuit in this device is obviously voltage dependent. Other similar units at comparable prices work just fine at various voltage. Was hoping to put just one resistor on the common cathode.

Quality

Adjusting the color was a breeze with the arduino

With the 470 ohm 14 watt resistors provided they are suitable for use with 3 volts or 2 aaa cells in series

I have many other leds of the same size and these are brighter even with the blinking built in

Even in this role with the included 470 ohm resistors the leds are annoyingly bright

Price

Great little leds for an outstanding price

Packaging/appearance

The packaging is top quality and after testing the leds in current order i immediately ordered more leds in 3mm diameter

I like the packaging and the included resistors are fine

Competitiveness

This is the second batch of these i’ve bought and they work great for making ebike taillights

I suggest not allowing more than 20 milliamps current and preferably 15 milliamps

You will likely need a greater value resistor

Update just checked and they are still running after being continuously on for well over a month

A set of 2 aaa batteries should last a few months of continuous use with a 4

Its an led what do you expect

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I would not run them at 12 volts unless you put in a bigger value resistor

So i cant use them in my design
