Pros

Fast release mechanism works easily and the guide rods move without much friction and no binding. Front jaw pitting is alright for the front jaw. The screw turns very smoothly, as does the sliding action.

Rock solid, well made with deep cut buttress thread, nicely finished. No shipping damage. Arrived promptly with no damaged. Buttery smooth. The mechanics work well and it is sturdy.

The vise works perfectly fine straight out of the box. Paul sellers mounts the vise on the surface of his nicholson-style bench. I already have two 35 year old wilton vises with quick release features.

Compared to other 9 vise, this one weighs a hefty 35 pounds.

Cons

Once loosened, the front jaw can only be released by using the quick release. The screw itself is extremely rough and poorly machined. I teach machining at a big ten university, and i'd flunk any student who turned in work like this.

My only complaint is the amount of packing grease they put on the screw

I bought this vise as an alternative to the record vise

Grizzly has a similar shop fox model which was almost as good but not painted well enough for the long haul
