Knowing when you have reached the maximum filter life by gallons filtered is not an issue either because of the digital readout which shows how many gallons have been processed through the filter

It only lights up when you 1st turn the water on then it goes out

You need to bend over to read it and it is so dark its hard to see unless you are looking at it when the display is lit up
