Dumplin’ is a book with a lot of hype behind it. I tend to be disappointed by heavily hyped books. How was this marketed as the feel-good ya of the year at the library? Dumplin only talent at the beauty pageant is lip-synching.

This was a sweet ya read centered around a teenager who decides to enter her texas towns annual beauty pageant motivated because of her mothers obsession and the teens perception that she is not the type of girl who would traditionally enter this type of pageant
