Neal barnard promotes a high carbohydrate, low fat vegan diet. He recommends hummus, but what if you don't like hummus?
When reading his book the information seems largely based on very outdated research. He writes as if his idea is new, whereas it reads as the opposite. The writing style of the book is that of a * salesman's marketing speech.
This diet is ridiculously restrictive. Can't be science based for diabetes or weight loss. People deserve better nutritional science.

The complex carbs are still carbs and a type i diabetic must take insulin to manage the resulting blood sugar rise

In the shortrun eating only fats and green vegs a keto diet uses less insulin but in the long run that keto diet is not so good for you

Eating as much carbs as you want makes me wonder if you may cure type ii diabetes but would it cause something else like cancer which experts say to reduce your carb and sugar intake for cancer
