Im thinking something akin to the outgoing mail flag on a mailbox with a float inside the container that makes the flag stand up as the water level goes down

Maybe a hole drilled through the side with washers or grommets to seal what would be a pivot arm like the crank handle on an old screen door but the armitures would be pointing in opposite directions

As the water level goes down the armiture inside goes down and the outside armiture goes up

However i have a 100 lbs blood hound who not only drinks a ton of water but her water bowl needs cleaned out multiple times a day because her saggy lips and ears trap all her food and releases it into her water bowl when she goes to drink leaving her water bowl absolutely disgusting near constantly
