Usually he only needs the vibrate and it gets his attention quickly but sometimes he is a little headstrong then i tried shock feature a few times for now i only used the collar a few times before my dog learns the commands and the respect

My unit does not work the advertised distance so i do not let her get to far without getting her back

It worked for a 1 year old german shepherd good distance we couldnt let anyone in our house no family till we got this collar i had to hit zap but it settled him down to a point he got to know them with us there otherwise he would rip them apart
