You see my pc is 8 years old and it has the first generation 1x pci express card however this card is a newer 4x version that will not fit on my motherboard

The product discription on amazon states that this card is for 4x and above but i did not know what that meant then

The board in linux with no any problem external usb3 hard drive is working so fast like it would be internal one also need to note both types of usb connectors are present and the board should be able to survive two very fast hard drives simultaneously because of pcie 2x connection not tested

It did say in the review that it can be powered via the pci express port

The pc knew it was there but it didnt do anything when you added a usb stick in it
