Pros

These things are great as a standalone with micropython. They really shine when programmed directly though! Here's a video explaining a project i did with them.

Sending esp8266 tx to the arduino rx pin worked fine. Just make sure to connect ch_pd to 3. V as well.

Package from other sellers sells 4 of these for $14. Great seller great quality and packaging. They definitely have my loyalty and orders for future purchases.

Cons

Hard to use out of the box. Different baud rate than advertised. Not the esp-01s. Older board with worse wi-fi radio performance.

3v ftdimake sure you have a good cable and quality ftdi adapter that can supply stable power

Came with the latest firmware installed from aithinker

Competitiveness

33v signal to the esp8266 rx but it was too much resistance and my signal didnt work

I set it up the arduino to use a ds18b20 temperature sensor to report to the esp8266 website
