It is not as easy nor as fast to use
I can line it up normally but this is faster and easier for quick basic cuts
Packaging/appearance
It arrived on time and the packaging was perfect
Very accurate right out of the box
To have this saw out of the box making square cuts just makes me smile
It comes fully assembled with a blade that is already installed its ready to go out of the box
Competitiveness
If you are new to the xps line please know that this represents the best of the best in dewalts product line
Just to note the 12 inch blade and this saw can handle a 2x8 cut in one sweep
Its a saw its going to be messy no big whoop but i have high expectations in a product set with so many lower priced competitors
Every hardware store has dewalt’s products in stock on their shelf

Due to some inherent design flaws in the makita i was never able to maintain consistent alignment between the fence and indexing mechanism

The thin and flimsy rubber “funnel” for source capturing saw dust was also replaced with a larger and thicker rubber funnel which does not collapse when connected to a dust collector

My main complaint is that the table clamp is virtually useless

It is mechanically weak and much too far removed from the blade to safely clamp the work

The operator has no choice but to place his or her hand dangerously close to the blade in order to prevent the workpiece from moving during the cut
