It appears to clamp on after placing it on top and then turning it a bit, then it just goes around the can but doesn't cut. This is way harder to use than an old fashioned manual can opener. Cheap and flimsy.

Has a button to press to remove lid from the can opener and throw in trash

You press the back button after putting the can opener in place and it will clamp the lid

The edges of the can that is opened slightly turn in so you wont cut your self
