Pros & Cons
Pros
This case looks classy and runs almost silent. The soundproofing is fantastic. Noise dampening on panels means it is quiet.
The doors on my old case had a groove on the bottom which made opening the sides a breeze. This case is so heavy and solid it's as if it was carved out of solid granite. Imho this case was well thought out and manufactured.
The fractal design define r5 computer box is strong; metal box with trays for six hard drives, etc. Good drive mounting - you could fit an absurd number of hard drives in here. Tons of space for tons of drives and mounting options. The hard drive tray... Read More
Air flow is great - with just the two included 140mm fans, the board and cpu are staying cool. Lots of places to remove panels and put in more fans. Thermals seem pretty good, but i'm not running a high tdp processor graphics card, so it'd probably do... Read More
Case is very well-made and easy to install. Easy to attach to the motherboard and to the psu. Solid-state drives can be mounted on the back of the motherboard tray. Only compromise is that some very long graphics cards require removal of thelarge hard... Read More
Cons
One of the connectors for the front power sw or power led connector is deformed. Thanks a lot for the atrocious quality control, fractal design.
Highlights
Quality
My only gripe with this and every case ive owned is the quality of their thumbscrews
First of all the quality is great
If you dont care about the rgbs or showing off the inside
I rip everything in full uncompressed quality
Price
The price is good for what it is and i ran into no complaints while setting it up
Its a bit pricey but in my opinion the case is well worth the price
Packaging/appearance
I mounted an aio radiator on top and removed two of the moduvents
Competitiveness
Its definitely just as quiet as the r6 after nixing the outofbox fans and adding in noctua units
Im not ready to give up my my blueray dvd writer just yet and i have several drives that i use for backups gaming and media servers
Im not into stupid seethrough carnival cases and flashing lights
You may not need a bluray burner
