I use this as an extra step in the phone line before my adsl modem on my homelab server rack it gives me peace of mind that the dsl phone line is at least going through a grounded outlet if god forbid something bad happens

I already have surge protection on electrical power going to my computers and network equipment but the surge found another way in likely via the phone wiring so i added this device
