You have to read the instructions to figure out how to set it but it really wasnt that difficult

Ive tried the terracotta spikes where you put the pop or wine bottle upside down in them and they did not work and killed my plants

Filled up a big kitchen waste basket with water and not worry about the plants for a couple weeks just to refill the waste basked with more water
