You do have to reset the toner counter there are multiple ways to do it and it took me about 2 minutes to fix once i read through the reviews here

Then you pop the entire thing into the printer and leave the door open

The only issue is that you need to manually reset the low toner warning but that is really the fault of brother not the cartridge
